cant remember the date but 'scunthore bulidering and cinema tour'

last week sometime on a wednesday i think i asked liam if he fancied going to the cinema, he said yes, we were going to see 'Knowing' but before we met in scunthorpe an hour and abit early so we went and did abit of buildering. The first spot we went to was the 'No Parking' area where we have a climb called'No parking' at font 6c/6c+ i did it second go and claimed third ascent. its a nice problem, you can see a video on www.red-tips.com it is quite a good problem, second spot we went to was thealley are where we have the triangle problem and also the one move wonder with no name at grade font 6a/6a+ after this we went to the cinema traverse and dyno, i had a few goes at the traverse and was getting furthest on it but it is a very technical and balancy problem with no grade set yet as it has had no ascent yet, we finally went to the cinema and saw 'knowing' if you havnt seen it already i advise you to go see it as it is awesome, after the film we found a few problems near the leisure centre, a highball arete and anothe one move wonder accompanied by a burly traverse. i then go tthe bus home and went on red-tips.

1st april 2009 'the works'

Soo, the 1st of april is here already. It doesnt seem two minutes since this time last year when i was kind of preparing for my GCSE's. i did alright in them by the way. Anyway the first of april, or april fools day as it is known, my father woke me up for some unknown reason at half past 7 so i could have as FREE lift to scunthorpe train station where i was going to get the ten past 9 train to sheffield. I managed to blag my way on to the train as a child again for the last time as i have now purchased a student railcard, which i am quite pleased about. I waited at the train station for liam and brandon to come at quarter to 9 to bring my brand new Red-tips t-shirt which is awesome by the way, to purchase one please go to www.red-tips.com and go on online store. when they arrived they sat with me for 20 minutes while my train came and then they dashed off home, probably to bed. I got on the train and just sat listening to the rage against the machine album, and to the prodigy album, not the new one. i got to sheffield and walked to decathalon which i hadnt been in before. Its pretty good to be honest, really cheap. I didnt buy anything by the way. By the time i had finished looking round it was about quarter to 11 and the works didnt open until 12 o'clock so i decided to go to ccc for abit. I looked round and ended up buying some new screw on holds for my wall which is quite cool, haha. Anyway i set off walking to the works at about quarter past 11 the road to the works is surprisingly long when you are alone and are walking. i got to the works at about ten to 12 and it was just opening, i started talking to this guy who said he lived like 2 minutes from the works he is so lucky. I got in and started to get warmed up, to get warmed up i did all the green problems. By the time i had done pretty much all of them i was pretty hot so i got a quick dring and started to get on some harder stuff, after a while i started trying all the new purple spotty's which as far i i know grade from font 6a to font 7a. I did pretty much all of them as far as i know and then i had a quick go on the font 6c circuit. After my second go i decided i would commit as much as i could and surprise surprise i did it, personally i think it was the song, which was 'Justice vs Simian-We are your friends' it got me pretty psyched and it was pretty awesome. I did a few roof problems on the blocks and then decided to call it a day due to needing skin needing a replacement. i think the time was about 20 past four so i set off to get the 25 past 5 train back to scunthorpe. i got to the train station at 5 past 5 and i got on the train which ended up been the one that stops at every stop. The train got to swinton and ended up comint to a standstill, some guy had ran across the track about 100 metres in front of the train so the train driver decided to go look for him, by the tine i got to scunthorpe it was 5 past 6 just in time for me to walk to scunthorpe bus station to get the 20 past 6 train home. When i got home i sat down and switched this laptop on and went on Red-tips the perfect thing after a good days training.

Training

Today i got home from college at about half one ish had a pizza, took the dogs for a walk and started training, i got on Fletchers wall where i had previously set a highball problem at grade f6c today i got warmed up then i set about doing it it took me about 20 goes at it but i was on a mission. The problem goes from a low jug to a high foot and then to some tiny tiny crimps the foot holds are absolutely atrotious as they are literally 1 mm wide, you just have to commit everything to it and make your feet stick from the tiny crimps you go to a small pocket and then from that still on rubbish footholds you go to a small crimp and match then with your right hand reach out for the finishing hold which is a sloping juggy thing i was well happy when i claimed first ascent but now i need someone to see it happen.

The works (18th January 2009)

Okay so i had slept at liams saturday night to go climbing at the works on sunday, so we got up on sunday at half eight expecting the weather to be awful but too our surprise it was absolutely beautiful the sun was just coming up properly and there was not a cloud in the sky. We got dressed and set off to liams nannas to get bikes to set off to the train station, brandon wasnt coming as he wanted to go to the edge bouldering instead. we got to liams nannas and straight away set off for the train station. On the way to the train station me and liam had a real deep conversation about how the sun is absolutely amazing in a morning after this very deep conversation we arrived at the train station. We purchased our tickets and waited for the train, we waited about ten minutes and then we got on the train and got settled until we got to sheffield station. When we arrived we got on our bikes and set off for the works. It takes about twenty minutes to get to the works on bike but as we went to CCC before it took about half an hour . I met Scott for the first time and then we went to the works. We got there paid and started getting warmed up on some easy problems, when warmed up we went round and got some harder problems done i flashed 3 v4's and i think i may have worked a v5 and sent it. I started working a f7a+ traverse on the circuit i only got about half way but i'll do it next time im at the works. after about 4 hours my forearms were absolutely dead so we left liam got a text of brandon asking him if he wanted to go to the edge for a while but as i dont have a green card i couldnt climb there so i left the bike with brandon and walked to the train station alone. When i got there i had twenty minutes to wait till my train was due so i got a burger king meal and then got the train to scunthorpe where my mum picked me up. Overall i was a good day which was well worth it.

The Trip

2007 - The 11th of august and i arrived at brandon and liams house at about 8:00 am we set off to the train station at about twenty to nine and we got the ten past 9 train to sheffieldwe got to sheffield and the train to hathersage had already set off so we had to wait two hours at sheffield we finally got to the peaks at about half past 12 but we then had the long tiring walk to north lees campsite which seemed to take forever with the bouldering mat and our heavy bags we arrived at north lees at about half past two where we met a fellow climber called james oswold and we got the tents set up and then we went up to stanage. we started off on a V0 boulder problem for a warm up and we moved up to harder problems as the day went i solod a vs and brandon and liam solod a few harder routes we went up to paradise wall and got a few routes done and we then realised it was ten past 9 we set off back and started to cook some food two other climbers came and spoke to us they were called johnny and seb we spoke to them for a while whils having some cans of cider and fosters we then later went to bed. we woke up in the morning to showers of rain so we eventually got up and had a trek to hathersage where we looked around the shops and bought some supplies milk, bread etc...... on the walk back to the campsite the weather seemed to be clearing up slightly so when we go back we had lunch then went to stanage we did some bouldering on the pebble and then it started to rain we took shelter in a cave and waited it out luckily the gritstone dries immensely quick and we started climbing again the weather seemed okay ish from then on with only a few light showers i did a V2 and brandon and liam both flashed a v5 boulder problem and we did some more soloing and we then walked back with ozzy seb and johnny. that night we went to the pub and had a meal as it was curry night after we had the meal we went back and got ready for wednesday we spent all of wednesday from half past 9 to about half past eight when we got back we took the tents down and walked into hathersage with our bags ect... we tried to get in at the little john pub for a meal but the chef had gone home so we went to a indian resteraunt. after this we walked slowly to the train station where we slept in the train shelter me and liam had our roll mats and sleeping bags and brandon put his tent up (in the shelter....:s) we woke at ten past 6 ready to get the 6:40 train which came to the end of our trip.
